It's already November! Students have been working hard in STEM Lab. Our materials from our Spark a Kindle! DonorsChoose Project arrived and everyone loves using our Kindles and Sphero SPRK+ Robots. We were also blessed by the PTA to get funds to purchase an additional Sphero SPRK+ and Kindle. This brings our total to 7 Kindles and 7 Sphero SPRK+ robots. Sharing has become an important skill that must be practiced when using these fun tools. I have a DonorsChoose Project to purchase an additional Kindle and Sphero SPRK+ if you are interested in helping out the link is below. Our technology department has delivered our additional Chromebooks that were ordered for this school year. We now have a class set of 30 Chromebooks. Students are overjoyed that they have their own device for Scratch, Learning.com, and Google Classroom.
KGES STEM Lab was able to get an aquarium and some fish thanks to a grant from the Pets In the Classroom. The grant paid for the aquarium starter kit (which included a 10 gal. aquarium, light, filter, food, and $5.00 toward fish). I purchased the gravel, heater, decorations, and some other supplies that are needed to help our fish stay healthy. We will be needing Aqueon Replacement Filter Cartridges size Medium if you would like to purchase something to help with our classroom pets. Our current residents include 2 tetras (Ringo and Paul) and 2 mollies (Farkle and Chelsea).
How can I help the KGES STEM Lab?
There are a number of ways to help our STEM Lab to be successful. Some of those ways include donating to our project on DonorsChoose.org, sending in materials from our donation list, or purchasing items on our Amazon Wish Lists. I frequently update the lists on Amazon. I often find used copies of the books on Abebooks. If you are interested in volunteering in our STEM Lab, send me an email and we can determine the best time for you to come share your skills with our students.
